Why do I read? I read for entertainment and pleasure. If I don't have anything to do, reading is a good thing to fill my time. I try to find books that keep me reading without wanting to put the book down. If I have read about 1/3 of a book and it is still boring, I will stop reading it. I don't know why anyone would read a book that is boring. I like to read historical fiction books a lot, but realistic fiction and fantasy are also very entertaining to read. I like fast paced books, where something is always happening. I will usually read for a long time so I can find out what happens. I don't like to have to end reading with a cliffhanger. I like books with a first-person point of view more than books with a third-person point of view, with the exclusion of the Harry Potter series, which are in third person and still are my favorite books. If there is a movie coming out that is based on a book, I will read the book first so that I can compare them. I read books to find good figurative language, because without it, books can be very boring.

ReplyDeleteThats why I read, for entertainment! I hate boring books!
ReplyDeleteGood observations about how the point of view, pacing, and language can determine the reader's experience.
ReplyDeleteI only read fast paced books as well, for the same reason as you. I believe the conflict reoccurrence is what makes books so intriguing! That is why my collection consists mostly of horror novels.
